These beautiful koa ukulele basses from Aiersi offer classic double bass style tone either acoustically or amplified, in a small and very playable package! Their koa bodies have a gorgeous golden grain which is brought out nicely by the smooth satin finish and offset with attractive maple binding and faux abalone binding. The mahogany neck has a very comfortable slim D profile and the Aquila thundergut strings are very easy to hold down. The playing action is comfortably low and the clear, white markers make it very intuitive to find the correct points on the fretboard for accurate intonation. The hardware is quality too, with precise and reliable black geared tuners and a superb sounding under-saddle pickup and side mounted preamp. The preamp offers a wide range of tonal options with simple volume and three band EQ controls. There’s also a built-in tuner which is very precise and even works on the lowest notes this instrument can produce (the E equivalent to the bottom string of a standard bass guitar), meaning that you’ll never have to worry about tuning up in loud environments.
