Finale Cragcaster 3/4 size rock/metal electric guitar HH (green)

A short note from Finale Guitar founder and Cragcaster designer Nye:

“Before I had a guitar shop, I was originally a guitar teacher and my main aim in life has always been to share the keys to music making with as many people as possible. In my 13 years of teaching, there is one main impediment that I have seen preventing kids from realising their musical potential: poor quality instruments which simply do not suit the styles of music which they want to play. The general perception seems to be that younger learners should begin on classical style guitars and work up through steel strung acoustics towards eventually graduating to the electric guitar. I personally feel this to be unhelpful and just plain wrong! Unfortunately this perception has led to a guitar market where there are very few well made electric guitars available for children younger than 13. Those that do exist come in a very limited range of designs and almost all have poor quality hardware and cheaply made, brittle sounding single coil pickups which are far from ideal for tackling the wide range of genres enjoyed by the youth of today who have the entire wealth of music at their fingertips and may flip between pop, indy, rock, and metal as the mood takes them. With that in mind, I set out to design a modern feeling electric guitar which retained some classic design elements but added modern playability improvements and stylish, colourful, customisation options. They have also been designed to offer a huge variety of tonal options suitable for a wide range of genres and sound superb with minimal playing experience required! The Finale Cragcaster is a homage to my adopted hometown of Sheffield and the beautiful peak district that surrounds it and also a nod to my love of climbing- I hope it will help younger rockers to scale new heights!”

These lovingly custom made electric guitars are designed for players aged 8-13 and pair a lightweight basswood body with a caramelised maple neck. The neck has a beautifully smooth satin finish and rich brown colour which offsets the gloss white bodies. Dual high output humbuckers (with height adjustable pole pieces) give a full and crisp tone which sounds epic with a little distortion or cleans up nicely to offer full pop chords or a rich and smooth blues tone. Our in-house guitar technician Shaun has also added a five way selector switch and coil splits which allow you to use the outer or inner coils of the two humbuckers together for classic Str@ style tones in positions two and four. In practice, this means that learners will have access to a very wide range of tonal options to suit practically any genre. We have chosen good quality chrome geared tuners to guarantee tuning stability and have also decked the tremolo bridges. As learners progress these can be set up to “float”, meaning they’ll be able to use the “whammy” bar to get classic vibrato effects should they wish to. Last, but definitely not least, these stylish, modern electric guitars have a choice of three pickguard colours! The pickguards are made from flame maple, a beautiful wood with a very eye-catching grain pattern, and come in either pink, green or blue gloss finishes.
