Vintage (and their precursor / cheaper sister brand Encore) have been making affordable and very well built copies of big brand guitars since way back in 1985. This cracking PRS copy is a perfect example of why they’re one of the most popular budget brands out their, combining Trev Wilkinson’s quality, cost effective hardware with sterling build quality and attention to detail.
This silky smooth black PRS style guitar screams class from its subtly arched poplar body to its mother of pearl fretboard inlays to its gold plated Wilkinson bridge and pickups. Tonally it’s got a well balanced sound with warm lower mids and plenty of solo bite when using the bridge pickup. The poplar body is combined with set maple neck and rosewood fretboard for sustain a-plenty and a clear tone. The neck is very pleasantly tapered with a slim C profile- perfect for lightning fast licks up the fretboard! The master volume and master tone pots are a nice touch and give quick and easy control over your sound. The bridge is also very ergonomically designed with short saddle height adjusters so you won’t hurt your hand while palm muting! All in all this is a really great rock guitar with plenty of potential for the cash strapped guitarist.
Cosmetically this guitar is in good condition. There are some signs of wear, mainly light scratches to the body, but no major dings or fret wear and certainly nothing which affects its tone or playability. If you’re looking for a beginner friendly rock guitar or upgrade instrument for the rock-oriented intermediate player then this could be just the ticket!
