Turner Guitars was founded in 2000 by Terry Pack, an experienced luthier who later moved on to creating his own line of entirely hand built instruments. His aim was to produce ‘beautifully crafted instruments’ which readily compete with the best in the industry both in quality of materials used and also care and attention to detail during construction. Each guitar is made using the finest materials including solid spruce tops and carefully selected tonewood bodies, complemented with precise custom scalloped bracing. The company is based near Doncaster and is now run by local guitarist Dave Ryan who you can see in Finale Guitar every now and again!
The 42CE is one of Turner’s higher end models and comes with a solid spruce top as standard, for a clear, bright sound. The ovangkol back and sides also give full mids and a clear, ringing tone with great string separation. The cutaway provides easy access to the higher frets. This combines with the tapered slim C neck (made from smooth satin finish mahogany) to make soloing and fast chord switches up and down the fretboard a breeze! All our Turner guitars come with bone nuts and saddles as standard rather than than the cheap plastic versions found on most guitars at this price point. This enhances sound transmission from the strings to the neck and body, giving greater sustain and clarity of tone.
This guitar is beautifully built with attractive white binding and a beautiful rainbow finish faux abalone decoration around the edge of the body. It is also very well kitted out for amplification, with a Fishman Isys+ pre-amp and under saddle pickup. The Isys+ is simple and intuitive to control with controls for treble, bass and volume as well as a phase switch. These combine to give a faithful and well balanced recreation of the instrument’s tone when amplified. The pre-amp also has its own built in tuner.
All our Turner guitars are professionally setup and given fresh sets of Ernie Ball Earthwood strings, so you can guarantee your guitar will be ready to play straight out of the box. If you haven’t played a Turner before then we really recommend giving them a try! You really couldn’t hope to find a better sounding or playing brand new electro-acoustic guitar at this price point.
