Ibanez’s RGATE2 is a stunning electric guitar that combines the classic RG shape with modern features and performance. It’s part of the RGA series, which offers guitars with arched tops and sleek contours for enhanced comfort and playability.

This cool RGATE2 features a mahogany body with a flamed maple top, finished in a gorgeous transparent blue burst. We really love the RG body shape- it gives you the full bottom end of a solid mahogany body but is slim enough to avoid the excessive weight of more traditional electric guitar designs! This is paired with a 3-piece maple Wizard III neck, which has a thin and fast profile that allows for effortless shredding and riffing. The neck also has a bound jatoba fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets and sharktooth inlays.

The RGATE2 is normally equipped with two Ibanez Quantum humbuckers, but a previous owner has massively upgraded the pickups on this epic electric guitar to one of the most popular metal combos ever produced; DiMarzio’s Air Norton and Tone Zone. These legendary pickups offer full throaty chugs or searing, crisp solos respectively and can be selected and tamed using the 5-way switch, master volume and master tone controls. Positions two and four also give you access to coil tapped, out of phase sounds which emulate more classic Strat tones. All in all there’s a huge range of tonal potential just waiting for you to find it and it’s easy to get the sound in your head thanks to the simple, intuitive controls!

The Ibanez RGATE2 is an ideal choice for rock and metal players who want a versatile and reliable guitar which is gig-ready without breaking the bank and can be played for hours at a time without strain on your back or hands. It’s an incredibly high-quality instrument that offers great value for money and deserves to be up on a stage rocking out! Cosmetically this guitar is in very good condition but does have some dings. There are a few dings of around 1-2 cm on both the back and front of the instrument (see closeups) as well as some scratches near the jack output and minor dings to the headstock. The edges also have a few dings as well as one small one to the rear of the neck. These are all cosmetic and do not affect tone or playability. The pickups alone would normally cost £170 so this really is a superb bargain on an awesome rock / metal guitar!
