A short note from Nye:
Ernie Ball have long been renowned as the world’s most popular guitar string manufacturer. However they do tend to write rather opaque product descriptions! I have included their description of these strings below, but what it all amounts to is that if you use a Floyd Rose style bridge, or play with a lot of whammy / tremolo bar usage, then these strings will hold their tune a lot better with repeated bending than more conventional electric guitar strings with steel cores. They are also coated, meaning they will hold their tone for up to three times longer than regular Ernie Ball Super Slinkys.
Here’s Ernie Ball’s original description:
Ernie Ball RPS Titanium Coated Electric Guitar Strings combine the latest technological advancements in string manufacturing. All wound strings are treated with groundbreaking nanotechnology that repels unwanted moisture and oils that negatively impact your tone. In addition to treating the wound strings, each plain string features a patented reinforcement winding of titanium wire. Titanium’s inherent strength prevents string breakage, string slippage, and is proven to keep your guitar strings in tune better than conventional plain strings. Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky Coated guitar strings maintain the feel and sound of uncoated sets, combining the added protection with the vibrant tone Ernie Ball customers have relied on for over 50 years.
