Blackstar Amplification is a British company that was founded in 2007 by a group of ex-Marshall employees who wanted to create innovative and versatile guitar amps and effects. The Dept 10 Dual Drive is one of their most popular effects pedals, a dual-channel valve-powered overdrive pedal that delivers authentic and versatile tube amp tones. The Dept 10 Dual Drive features two channels, each with its own volume and gain controls plus bass, mid, treble and ISF. Blackstar’s ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) allows you to shift the frequency response between that of American and British amps, aka tight and scooped or mid heavy and ballsy. Channel 1 offers two switchable clean modes: Clean Warm and Clean Bright. Channel 2 offers two switchable overdrive modes: Crunch and Super Crunch. You can switch between the channels with a footswitch, or use both at the same time for a massive tone stack. The pedal also has an internal trim-pot that allows you to adjust the overall gain of each channel to suit your preferences.

The Dept 10 Dual Drive is designed to work with any amp, thanks to its powerful valve preamp section. It runs the signal through an ECC83 to give you the same response and warm feel as a traditional valve amp. It also has a low latency USB port and an XLR out, allowing you to record directly to your computer or send to a PA system with Blackstar’s proprietary Cab Rig simulator technology .
