The baritone ukulele is a versatile instrument, perfect for filling out the low end in ukulele ensembles or providing a very convenient gateway to the world of guitar for ukulele players and new learners. The strings are tuned DGBE, the same as the top four strings of a guitar. This means you can use the chord shapes you have previously learnt on ukulele, which will now all give you the chord whose root note is a fourth lower. For example an A shape now produces an E chord, a C shape produces a G chord and so on.
This gorgeous oak baritone has a great sound with plenty of low end and sustain and a rich, sweet tone! Ashbury are a well established maker of folk instruments and it’s easy to see why- this ukulele is very well constructed with an attractive, vintage aesthetic and quality hardware. The oak body is neatly bound in vintage white with black purfling. The headstock is attractively finished with a flame maple veneer. The neck is mahogany, which combines with a bone nut and saddle for great sustain. The open geared tuners are very reliable and the fret ends are very nicely finished. The playing action is low and comfortable with perfect intonation across the fretboard and it even comes with a free padded gig bag! All in all if you’re looking for an eye-catching and superb sounding baritone ukulele at a great price then this one is perfect for you.
